ByteFoundry

Forged, not rented.

Software you run yourself, and hardware you build yourself. ByteFoundry makes tools for people who would rather own the thing than rent it. Three apps are in progress on our own servers, and a water plugin for Unreal is in our development project. None of them can be downloaded or bought yet.

Apps

Chat · Voice · Command nets

Babylon

Chat, voice, screen share, boards and a whiteboard, and the moderation tools a big gaming group needs, on a machine you own. It looks like the app your group's already on. Underneath the voice channels sit ranked radio channels, so forty people can talk in order when the night needs it.

Runs today
Text channels, voice channels, command nets, screen share — on our own server.
In test
Direct messages, message search, friends and a clearer permissions editor. These are still being checked.
Not yet
No public download or source release. No webcam. Linux and Windows only.

Homebrew recipes · Batches · Inventory

BrewSoft

Design recipes, track batches and keep an eye on what's in the cupboard, on your own computer. Work in grams and litres, with NZ hops and Gladfield malt in the ingredient list.

Built today
Recipes, batches, inventory, BeerXML and brew-day tools. Water profiles, salt calculations and reusable brewing profiles are built too.
Not yet
No public signup or download. Mash pH prediction and broader integrations remain planned.

Stories · Lore · Worldbuilding

Narrative Foundry

Build a story's timeline and the world behind it, in one shared workspace. Arrange scene cards, shape an outline, and connect characters, places and factions to the scenes that use them. Keep the lore close while the story changes.

Runs today
Scene planning, chapter writing, linked lore, branching dialogue, review and translation — in our private team pilot. Reviewed RTF and OPML imports and chapter exports are hosted too.
Newer work
Storyboards, searchable connection maps and passage-based review are verified for a later pilot rollout. Spatial authoring and character dossiers are in development.
Not yet
No public download or source release. Access is currently limited to our internal team.

Games

Near-future Earth · A game in development

SeedFall

A city-sized alien prison transport crashes on Earth. Corruption spreads from its breached containment. Four separate factions—Human enclaves, Gaia, primordial flesh and independent Caretaker machines—fight over every route and resource.

Hardware

Self-build · Recliner · Workstation

Zero-G Chair

A reclining workstation you build yourself from aluminium extrusion. Three motors take it from upright, through zero-G, to lying flat. Three screens and a stick and throttle ride on the backrest, so they stay put in every position.

Drawn today
3D model, side elevation, cut list, hardware list and motor sizing — change the pose, screens or rider and the numbers follow.

Not built or tested. It's a concept: check the clearances in CAD before you cut anything.

Technology

Unreal plugin · Voxel terrain · Water

VoxelWater

Water that keeps its volume, for Unreal games built on Voxel Plugin 2 terrain. Players dig a channel, build a dam or knock one out, and the water fills, spills and finds its own way down, through caves and tunnels too. The server runs it and sends each player a copy.

Runs today
Shared water and terrain digging, caves and trapped air, dam breaks and floods — in our development project, on small test levels. Dedicated-server joins have been tested.
Not yet
Not released or sold. Windows only. Shared terrain work continues; boats, swimming, saves and map-wide water are planned.

What can I use today?

You can explore the examples, captures and drawings here. Our software is still in development on our own systems.

Can I download or sign up for the software?

There are no public downloads or signups yet. Babylon and BrewSoft run on our own server, Narrative Foundry is a private internal team pilot, and VoxelWater runs in our development project. Each project page explains what works and what is still planned.

Where are the source and installation instructions?

Public source releases and installation instructions are not available yet. Source availability and licensing are specific to each project; running on our own hardware does not mean a public release is ready.

What do the work-board percentages mean?

They count completed tasks in a snapshot of each software project's work board. Tasks differ in size, and the board changes as work is added. A percentage is not a release-readiness score or a promised release date. Babylon also has a detailed roadmap and an RSS feed of board changes.
