Current foundation, proposed details. All four factions have distinct bodies and origins and are mutually hostile. Corruption spreads on Earth from the crashed city-sized prison mothership. Primordial Corruption and the independent manufactured Caretakers remain separate factions. Exact adaptations, new archetypes, mechanics, dimensions and scenes below are proposals, not implemented gameplay.

CURRENT SETTING FOUNDATION
After containment breaks.
Corruption is a hostile primordial alien force present since the dawn of creation; the crash did not create it, and its cosmic origin remains unknown.
Its incursion and spread on Earth originate at the crashed city-sized alien prison mothership, which carried it under Caretaker custody. Humans, native Gaia and manufactured Caretakers have separate origins and baseline identities.
Alien vascular flesh, membranes and assimilative growth define Corruption. Captured or assimilated hosts are altered cases of its attack, not proof that every other faction normally shares its anatomy.
Alien flesh spreads outward on Earth from the breached city-sized prison mothership, consuming opposed territories and turning each new position toward another assault.
Corruption has existed since the dawn of creation; its cosmic origin remains unexplained. The crashed city-sized prison mothership is the source of its outbreak and outward spread on Earth. In this proposed consumed district, alien muscle, sinew and membranes sustain siege bodies and predatory growth. Those tissues are its baseline identity. Infected Human or animal hosts and captured Machine frames are exceptional contested states, not proof that the four normal factions share a body plan. Host traces may persist during such an encounter, without promising safety or complete control. No fixed spread distance, continuous tether or universal command network is established.
Three pressures from within.
A front that consumes its support.
An assault can demand material faster than the district replaces it. One body taking the strongest link can leave another exposed. A local rival growth may seize that weakened connection rather than reinforce a common campaign.
A stolen body that resists.
In an exceptional proposed capture, a recognisably manufactured Caretaker core may resist flesh forcing one actuator; an infected Human or animal may interrupt a predatory sequence. The visible alien tissue is an imposed intrusion into a distinct host, not an inherent feature of its original faction. Resistance can make the encounter more erratic without guaranteeing rescue or restored agency.
An enemy inside the flesh.
Exceptional reciprocal interventions remain possible: native colonies attack exposed Corruption tissue, Humans constrain a captured fragment, or Caretakers fit a captive body with manufactured braces. Each may contest one bounded function. These are disputed captured states, not baseline cooperative bodies or evidence that the four factions normally merge.
ADDITIONAL ROLE PROPOSALS
New ways to inflict pressure.
Gate Borer
A proposed alien-flesh siege body whose muscular braces and calcified bearing surfaces turn repeated contraction into a local breach. Its ordinary structure has no required Human, native-animal or manufactured Machine chassis.
Limit: It needs an anchor and supporting material. Breaking the loaded support changes this attack but may release the structure or leave another opening exposed.
Lure Host
An exceptional proposed corrupted host retaining a recognisable gesture, voice fragment or outline while drawing attention toward an occupied approach. Alien flesh visibly intrudes on the original body; this host state does not define ordinary Humans, Gaia or Caretakers.
Limit: A familiar action does not prove complete memory or intent. Its deception is bounded by local perception and whatever survives in the host; it cannot know every target's history.
Carrier Knot
A proposed mobile knot of alien muscle and sinew hauling living material between assault positions. A separate captured mechanical load is possible in an exceptional encounter, not part of its normal body plan.
Limit: Weight and sustaining connections limit speed and available routes. Severing one tie can scatter or redirect the load rather than destroy the whole cluster.
TERRITORY STUDY
Streets used as a weapon.
A proposed Corruption district is a territory reached by the outbreak spreading outward from the crashed city-sized prison mothership. Alien flesh occupies covered passages and anchors itself across existing buildings; it is not native bark, manufactured armour or ordinary Human construction. Local pockets, pauses and attack paths remain proposals without an exact radius, required continuous connection or fixed geography. Gaia's living systems, Human raiders and separate Caretaker units contest its margins. A pause in flesh movement does not imply a peaceful core.
Alien sinew under tension, pale flesh membranes and calcified pressure points distinguish an advancing infestation from native thorns or manufactured braces.
In an exceptional host encounter, imposed alien flesh and the recognisable original body show a contest over movement rather than a normal mixed-faction identity.
Freshly stripped paths and disrupted links expose a current assault route, not a permanently safe corridor.
TWO MORE ENCOUNTER PROPOSALS
What the fighting costs.
The voice inside the breach
In this exceptional host proposal, a visibly Corruption-infected Human body repeats a call behind a barricade while a separate alien-flesh Gate Borer pulls at its supports. A rival Human enclave approaches the supplies, and manufactured Caretaker units advance behind the infestation. These remain distinct hostile forces.
A decision
Observe whether the call and the body's movement share a cause, attack an exposed support, seize only a reachable supply or abandon the position before two fronts close. Concern for the former host does not remove the tactical threat.
A possible consequence
Record only what the intervention reveals about that body's control. A changed response does not promise recovery; a stopped borer does not keep the other enemies from taking the position.
The assault column
Alien-flesh Carrier Knots move through a proposed ruined boulevard as part of Corruption's outward Earth spread. A single captured Caretaker frame, recognisable as manufactured metal and ceramic, is hauled among them while resisting imposed flesh ties. That captive is an exceptional contested state. Separate native Earth hunters follow along the side streets.
A decision
Disrupt one carrier connection, contest the captured frame, move a warning through another hostile route or withdraw while abandoning the boulevard. Waiting changes which defended place receives the assault; it does not end the advance.
A possible consequence
Show where the column or its scattered parts go and which position loses time. Releasing a Machine limb can break the flesh's grip while creating another autonomous hostile threat.
Corruption spreads outward on Earth from the crashed prison mothership, hunting material and new bodies beyond the breach. Its distinctive alien flesh invades Human shelter, native habitat and manufactured Machine works. The incursion has a source; its enemies do not begin as pieces of the same organism.
Organisation
Alien growth fronts and specialised flesh forms sustain the incursion. Their connection to the mothership is the origin and direction of Earth spread, not an established universal control network or mandatory physical tether. Exact coordination, detached infestations and limits remain unresolved design questions.
Internal tension
Expansion exposes new growth and makes local supplies vulnerable. In an exceptional captured-host study, a Human, animal or Machine process may resist the invading tissue. That contested body must be distinguished from an ordinary Corruption form and from the unaltered baseline of its victim.
02 / ART DIRECTION PROPOSAL
Read the silhouette.
Baseline Corruption uses its own unmistakably alien anatomy: vascular flesh, taut membranes, muscular supports and organic sensory folds. Show an infestation front emerging from the city-sized mothership source where the setting calls for it. Human clothing, recognisable Earth animals and Machine chassis appear only in explicitly labelled assimilated-host studies, not as a blended baseline for every faction.

membrane ivory#D9BBA6
bruise violet#68465E
Materials
Alien muscle, sinew and dense vascular tissue
Pale living membranes and contracting sensory folds
Organic calcified supports, never manufactured ceramic armour by default
Assimilative growth visibly invading otherwise distinct surfaces at an incursion edge
Movement
Alien contraction, load and release drive native Corruption forms. A local infestation advances from the established mothership-sourced incursion without requiring every form to pulse in synchrony. Mixed or resisting movement belongs to a labelled exceptional host case.
Sound
Loaded tissue and stressed supports paired with visible motion
Interrupted motors beneath forced mechanical movement
Pressure travelling through a local connected growth
Avoid
Treating all four factions as variations of the same biomass
Baseline Gaia or Caretakers with unexplained Corruption tissue
An assumed universal tether, fixed range or mothership kill switch
A manufactured chassis standing in for every alien flesh form
Graphic gore or a shared colour palette replacing distinct anatomy
03 / PROPOSED ARCHETYPES
Three ways to meet them.
Role and silhouette studies. Dimensions are rough art targets; behaviours and counterplay need prototyping. Earlier visual studies remain available as design history.
03.01 / Proposed flesh hunter
Suture
Rush a narrow opening and fasten a local breach to supporting tissue.
Art scale
Art target: low body roughly 0.4 m high and 1.2 m long.
Silhouette
An alien flesh body with six organic braced limbs, vascular sensory folds and tendon-like links; no ordinary Human or Machine chassis.
Behaviour proposal
Tracks a reachable opening, contracts and commits to a short violent rush. A missed attack can still leave tissue across the route.
Counterplay
Read the tightening rear stance and leave the attack line, using cover that may itself be under pressure. An escape can sacrifice access to the objective.
Cost / tradeoff
Speed needs a committed path. Pursuit exposes the supporting connection and separates the body from protected flesh.
03.02 / Proposed assault flesh form
Bellower
Break a held position and force defenders into another threat.
Art scale
Art target: broad body roughly 1.5 m high, wider than a doorway.
Silhouette
Heavy alien muscular limbs, organic rib-like supports and contracting pressure sacs, distinct from manufactured armour.
Behaviour proposal
Anchors, tensions and releases a directional disturbance before advancing behind the displacement it creates.
Counterplay
Leave its facing direction during preparation or interrupt an exposed support. Moving out of its attack can expose a rival faction's firing or hunting line.
Cost / tradeoff
Its strongest action fixes it in place and requires recovery. It relies on other bodies to exploit the opening.
03.03 / Proposed siege growth
Marrow Loom
Anchor an incursion and pull captured structures into the flesh network.
Art scale
Art target: rooted growth around 3 m high, occupying part of a workshop or street.
Silhouette
An alien rooted growth with calcified organic braces, hanging membranes and visible vascular ties.
Behaviour proposal
Loads a connection, pulls against a barrier and supports nearby assault forms. Competing fronts may fight over its supply.
Counterplay
Trace one connection and contest its bounded effect or withdraw before the barrier fails. Cutting a link can release a dangerous load rather than end the encounter.
Cost / tradeoff
Fixed supports and local intake constrain it. Losing an anchor can interrupt this attack while leaving adjacent growth active.
04 / ENCOUNTER PROPOSAL
The breach under load
At a proposed urban edge of the mothership-sourced incursion, a Marrow Loom pulls an armoured Human gate inward while Suture forms probe the gap. One exceptional infested Caretaker frame struggles against the flesh invading it. Human raiders also contest the stores beyond the gate; their bodies and gear remain plainly Human.
01 / NOTICE
Readable cues
Distinct alien flesh deforms a separate Human-made gate
Organic Suture stances reveal which openings are being tested
The one labelled infested Machine retains a manufactured chassis under the invading tissue
02 / DECIDE
Player choices
Attack one loaded connection and risk the released structure
Cross a threatened flank before the assault shifts
Take a small contested supply load while abandoning the main store
Withdraw through a narrowing route before the gate falls
03 / LIVE WITH IT
Aftermath
Show which barrier, route or supply claim is lost. A temporary pause in the incursion does not establish a safe district, a rescued host or a permanent containment success.
05 / SYSTEM PROPOSAL
A footprint in the world.
The Earth incursion spreading from the crashed city-sized prison mothership: alien growth fronts, siege anchors and locally invaded routes.
Needs
Living hosts and material
Usable energy and sheltered connections
Bodies capable of crossing a defended gap
→
Does
Advance, hunt and assimilate from the established incursion source; prototype local spread without declaring a universal network or fixed distance limit.
→
Leaves
Distinct alien flesh forms and expanding infestation fronts
Exceptional assimilated hosts that retain evidence of their separate origin
Invaded enemy surfaces and vulnerable local growth
Pressure to model: Advance creates more enemies and more dependencies. A captured frame or organism may remain resistant, and an enemy conversion can turn a local body against its supporting growth.
Corruption's mothership-sourced incursion stalks and assimilates Human bodies and shelter. An infested Human is an altered victim whose origin, remaining control and allegiance must be distinguished from the attacking flesh.
Pressure in return
Humans attack the flesh incursion spreading from the crashed mothership. A seized and constrained fragment is an exceptional hazardous experiment, not ordinary Human anatomy or standard equipment.
Asymmetry
The baseline factions remain separate and hostile. Damage or capture does not itself create a hybrid; exceptional alteration must identify the original body, invading or imposed process, present control and unresolved allegiance.
Alien vascular Corruption invades Earth's living systems as its outbreak spreads from the crashed mothership. Assimilated hosts are altered cases of that attack, not normal Gaia anatomy or a common origin.
Pressure in return
Gaia's organic systems resist replacement by the mothership-sourced alien flesh, contest invaded surfaces and renew living ground. The two remain distinct life forces even at an exceptional altered contact zone.
Asymmetry
The baseline factions remain separate and hostile. Damage or capture does not itself create a hybrid; exceptional alteration must identify the original body, invading or imposed process, present control and unresolved allegiance.
Corruption physically infiltrates a manufactured Machine at a breached interface. The exceptional infested frame remains identifiable as a taken chassis, distinct from unaltered Caretakers and native Corruption forms.
Pressure in return
Caretakers hunt and contain the distinct flesh spreading from their crashed prison mothership. Re-engineering a captive organ is an exceptional proposal involving separate materials and processes, not an organic Machine identity.
Asymmetry
The baseline factions remain separate and hostile. Damage or capture does not itself create a hybrid; exceptional alteration must identify the original body, invading or imposed process, present control and unresolved allegiance.
07 / PROTOTYPE SPECIFICATION
Make the idea testable.
Acceptance criteria
Make hostile intent and the physical preparation for an assault clear.
Give a local growth link and a competing control interface separate, bounded effects.
Preserve uncertainty about host agency without turning that uncertainty into a tame encounter or a guaranteed recovery system.
Open questions
How does a proposed region show the incursion advancing from the mothership source?
What evidence distinguishes a native Corruption form from an exceptional assimilated host?
Which local growth dependencies can be shown without assuming a universal physical tether?
Design risks
A mixed host becoming the baseline silhouette for every faction
The mothership source being mistaken for a universal control switch
Losing the distinct Earth or manufactured identity of the attacked faction
