Humans. Gaia. Corruption. Caretakers.

Four separate factions, each with its own bodies and origins. Corruption spreads on Earth from the crashed mothership; Gaia’s living world responds and evolves against it, while its awareness remains mysterious. Humans and Caretakers pursue their own survival. All locations and detailed systems here are proposals; these are not gameplay captures or a final world map.

A tidal stronghold losing ground

A stronghold survives by holding its water, raiding its enemies and deciding which of its own people must bear the losses.

A position held by force.

One proposed Earth region centres on a battered coastal stronghold: raised firing positions, flooded streets, locked ration stores and landing steps fought over at every tide. Other Human settlements are visible across the water, close enough to raid but unwilling to surrender their own reserves.

In this proposed tidal stronghold, recognisably Human residents in worn clothing and assembled protective gear begin another watch with damage reports and ration demands. Boats are dragged behind cover, roofs are patched between attacks and food moves under armed guard. Their tools and barricades are built equipment, not growths fused into normal Human bodies. Rival Human enclaves seize returning loads. Gaia's regrowth breaks the works around exposed workers, manufactured Caretaker units strip the power corridor, and alien flesh from the Corruption outbreak spreads into damaged structures. Repair sustains the fighting position without making it a safe harbour.

THE PRESSURE AT ITS EDGE

Gaia's organic resistance disrupts the occupied approaches, Corruption spreading from the mothership reaches damaged infrastructure, and separate Caretaker machines seize power fittings. Rival Human enclaves exploit each attack to take water, ground or labour. This region fixes no distance from the wreck or route by which the infestation arrived.

Which loss can this stronghold survive, and who will it force to pay for the next day behind the wall?

Two ways into the story.

The landing under fire

A proposed stronghold's last usable landing is being attacked by a rival Human enclave. A damaged ferry carries water and wounded defenders, while Caretaker extraction threatens the power route above it.

A decision: Observe the attackers' positions long enough to choose a gap, hold the landing at the cost of supplies, move only part of the ferry's load or abandon the boat and take a route through living ground resisting their passage. Delay can close an option.

A possible consequence: Show the water, people or position left behind and who gains the landing. A withdrawal can preserve some of the group while worsening its next shortage; it is not a safe reset.

The pump taken twice

Raiders have brought a stolen Human pump into a roof workshop. Its former owners are closing the streets. A separate Corruption infestation has entered the damaged intake as the Earth outbreak spreads from the crashed mothership; this is a contested intrusion, not the pump's normal construction. The raiders demand that the player defend their claim.

A decision: Contest the demand, spend scarce material isolating the intake, carry a smaller component out before the encirclement or leave the workshop while another faction's advance threatens the remaining route.

A possible consequence: The pump's ownership, condition and present threat remain distinct. Keeping it deepens the Human feud; leaving it can deny the player water and hand the site to another attacker.

The living Earth responds.

Gaia is the living Earth reacting and evolving against damage, occupation and invasion. Its response can emerge across living Earth. Organic renewal can confront a Human stronghold, manufactured Machine works or the separate alien flesh incursion wherever a proposed scene brings those pressures together.

Gaia is Earth's living world. Roots, vegetation, animals and the living conditions around them respond to damage and occupation. New growth can break Human works, obstruct manufactured extraction and contest Corruption's alien tissue. Organic defences develop while damaged places change. The relationships between these responses may appear purposeful, but Gaia's awareness, will and coordination remain mysterious. Its wider organic response can be lethal to Humans and destructive to Machine works or alien flesh.

THE PRESSURE AT ITS EDGE

Human exploitation, Caretaker expansion and Corruption spreading from the crashed mothership threaten Earth's living systems in different ways. Gaia's resistance can destroy their works and deny their claims without becoming a helper to any of them. Its exact extent, pace and coordination remain unresolved.

What can the player change locally while the meaning and awareness behind Gaia's wider response remain unknown?

Two ways into the story.

The works lose their ground

At a proposed Human resource site, Gaia's roots and renewed vegetation are breaking the supports. Manufactured Caretakers seize equipment while a separate Corruption infestation advances from the wider mothership-sourced outbreak. The conflict concerns several hostile forces with distinct bodies and origins.

A decision: Observe the failing support while enemies close, clear a narrow organic obstruction at the cost of tools, contest another held route or abandon the resource before the structure shifts. No option establishes command over Gaia.

A possible consequence: Show which living systems and hostile works change, what is lost and who takes the opening. Gaia's action remains dangerous to Humans even when it also disrupts Corruption or Caretakers.

The returning growth

A Human force has cleared a strip to move supplies. Gaia's renewed growth is closing the passage and loading damaged structures along it. Separate Caretaker units advance on the equipment while alien flesh threatens the supplies behind them.

A decision: Force the passage and accept its structural cost, take a smaller load over uncertain ground, attack a competing force's route or withdraw before the available position is lost. Cutting one root or stem changes only the visible local problem.

A possible consequence: Show the cost to living ground, supplies and access. The apparent response leaves Gaia's consciousness and coordination mysterious; withdrawal does not make the living world passive or safe.

An urban district in the outward spread

Alien flesh spreads outward on Earth from the breached city-sized prison mothership, consuming opposed territories and turning each new position toward another assault.

A position held by force.

One proposed Earth region is an urban district reached by Corruption spreading from the crashed city-sized mothership. Alien muscle and membranes occupy ruined tramways, towers and streets while independent flesh bodies attack defended margins. The remaining Human structures, native organisms and manufactured Caretakers retain separate identities. This regional study fixes neither the wreck's location nor a distance or route between it and the district.

Corruption has existed since the dawn of creation; its cosmic origin remains unexplained. The crashed city-sized prison mothership is the source of its outbreak and outward spread on Earth. In this proposed consumed district, alien muscle, sinew and membranes sustain siege bodies and predatory growth. Those tissues are its baseline identity. Infected Human or animal hosts and captured Machine frames are exceptional contested states, not proof that the four normal factions share a body plan. Host traces may persist during such an encounter, without promising safety or complete control. No fixed spread distance, continuous tether or universal command network is established.

THE PRESSURE AT ITS EDGE

Corruption expands from its Earth outbreak source at the mothership into territory held by Humans, native life and Caretakers. Each enemy attacks the alien flesh in return. Captured or altered bodies may appear as exceptional proposed encounters; they do not erase baseline identities or establish universal control, a fixed spread radius or a continuous physical network.

What will take the next position if this assault is broken here but left enough bodies to move elsewhere?

Two ways into the story.

The voice inside the breach

In this exceptional host proposal, a visibly Corruption-infected Human body repeats a call behind a barricade while a separate alien-flesh Gate Borer pulls at its supports. A rival Human enclave approaches the supplies, and manufactured Caretaker units advance behind the infestation. These remain distinct hostile forces.

A decision: Observe whether the call and the body's movement share a cause, attack an exposed support, seize only a reachable supply or abandon the position before two fronts close. Concern for the former host does not remove the tactical threat.

A possible consequence: Record only what the intervention reveals about that body's control. A changed response does not promise recovery; a stopped borer does not keep the other enemies from taking the position.

The assault column

Alien-flesh Carrier Knots move through a proposed ruined boulevard as part of Corruption's outward Earth spread. A single captured Caretaker frame, recognisable as manufactured metal and ceramic, is hauled among them while resisting imposed flesh ties. That captive is an exceptional contested state. Separate native Earth hunters follow along the side streets.

A decision: Disrupt one carrier connection, contest the captured frame, move a warning through another hostile route or withdraw while abandoning the boulevard. Waiting changes which defended place receives the assault; it does not end the advance.

A possible consequence: Show where the column or its scattered parts go and which position loses time. Releasing a Machine limb can break the flesh's grip while creating another autonomous hostile threat.

04 / Caretakers

A transit corridor under suppression

An independent manufactured civilisation preserves itself through suppression, seizure and war production; imposed reconstruction of captives is a separate contested operation.

Generated concept art: Independent Caretaker machines have geometric metal and ceramic bodies, engineered joints and hard-edged infrastructure. No flesh, fur, bark or native anatomy forms their baseline.

A position held by force.

One proposed Earth region centres on a fortified, manufactured Caretaker transit, archive and reconstruction installation. Metal structures and ceramic housings line old road and rail approaches. Captured organic bodies, if present in an exceptional scenario, are held as separate prisoners rather than shown as ordinary Machine anatomy. Stripped Human settlements, native growth and Corruption infestations surround the site as distinct hostile territories.

In this proposed Caretaker installation, metal-and-ceramic units work through fabricated joints, sensors and replaceable components. These are manufactured bodies without inherent flesh, roots or feathers. Seized power feeds repair, suppression and defended archives. Units strip Human works and remove hostile native growth. Restrained Corruption specimens remain separate captives in exceptional testing or reconstruction proposals, not standard Machine anatomy. Containment remains a campaign alongside the independent faction's struggle to expand capacity, dominate territory and deny resources to every other force.

THE PRESSURE AT ITS EDGE

Independent Caretakers fight Humans, Gaia and Corruption for continued capacity while competing Machine priorities contest cores and power. Corruption spreads on Earth from the crashed prison mothership; this Caretaker installation is not established as the origin of the other factions or as a fixed neighbour of the wreck. Containment is one war aim, with no promise to protect surrounding people or habitats.

Which enemy position will grow stronger when the player breaks a Machine operation that was also holding another threat in place?

Two ways into the story.

The captured lift

In an exceptional capture proposal, manufactured Caretaker units seize a Human cargo lift and fit a separate coercive harness around a captive operator. The Human body, fabricated lift and metal-and-ceramic Machines remain distinguishable. Gaia's returning vegetation is undermining the occupied ground below, while a damaged Machine core also resists its assigned task.

A decision: Disrupt one identified connection, contest the material while suppression turns elsewhere or leave before the only ground exit closes. A captive's movement, the resisting core and the lift's function must be read separately.

A possible consequence: Show which action stops and which threat continues. Releasing a restraint can expose the captive to a fall, pursuit or another interface; intervention does not guarantee an obedient ally or a clean extraction.

The archive denial

Two proposed manufactured Caretaker processes dispute a damaged archive segment holding local power-route information. One removes the bridge used by Human raiders; the other redirects suppression to defend its claim. A separate alien flesh infestation from the outward Corruption outbreak enters the lower level. The attack does not establish flesh as part of normal Caretaker bodies.

A decision: Use the conflict to contest a copy, attack the bridge dependency, seize a smaller component or retreat with incomplete information. Observation can reveal the next destructive step but costs time under several hostile fronts.

A possible consequence: Show the route, record or capacity lost and the process that gains control. Neither Machine side becomes friendly because the other was disrupted, and the record does not reveal the transport's origin or crash cause.

05 / WHERE THE FRONTS COLLIDE

The boundary
keeps moving.

Every frontier is a fight for control. Threats overlap, pursuit continues and a retreat can expose another held position.

The water siege.

Rival Human enclaves fight over a failing intake while Gaia’s living growth makes the structure unstable. Caretakers advance to seize the outlet; Corruption breaks through a buried conduit beneath the defenders.

The warworks raid.

A Human strike group attacks a Caretaker war yard for a power assembly. Gaia’s organic growth reclaims the escape route while corrupted pursuit forms gather beneath the damaged rail bed.

The moving front.

A migratory Corruption assault crosses an evacuation route. Rival Human forces fire from the far bank; Caretaker suppression traps the column between them. Delaying, breaking through or abandoning supplies each gives an enemy time to close.

These linked situations are encounter proposals. They establish no global alliance, fixed reputation score or implemented territorial simulation.
